Today’s post features Smithsonian student Peter!

Today was our last day in Breidavik, as we were on our way north to Isafjordur. On our way we stopped at a sea monster museum, which talked about the well-known sea monsters in Iceland and other famous ones such as the Lochness Monster in Scotland.
On our way, we also stopped at an old blacksmith house that was important to Isafjordur in the late 1800s. It had many old machines that were used to make tools at that time. There was also an old boat engine outside that used to be part of a fishing boat during that time. We then got to see this MASSIVE and beautiful waterfall called Dynjandi, which means “thundering.”
As we got to Isafjordur, we stopped at an old restaurant that was running an all-you-can-eat buffet. We had an amazing host who gave us an informative speech about the seafood they were serving and his family’s business. The tables were community style, with different groups sitting together at picnic tables. The food was so good! And all you can eat! This restaurant had come highly recommended. A great way to end the day.
