We had a late morning, we got up around 9ish and went to breakfast. We all started our morning with amazing homemade food and had a happy and good start to the day. We hung out around the cabin and got to work on our projects.
Not long after, we went to a restaurant called Matarlist, and we all got to eat a delicious and beautiful lunch. Later on, we started our adventure by going up a cinder cone volcano. Surprisingly, it was much windier than we had thought. It was so windy that we had to hold on to friends to get to the top. But thankfully, it didn’t take too long to get up the cinder cone volcano, as we had the wind helping us by pushing us forward! Getting down was definitely a challenge, but it was all very amusing and enjoyable.
After that, we went to a black sand beach. Walking around and feeling the fresh air was extremely enjoyable, but getting to see the amazing view was definitely the best part. We could see beautiful blue water and waves crashing onto the rocks. There were also a few of us who had worked on a rock tower. At one point, we got to see a fox walking along the shore, and it was eating the sea urchins. It was a very refreshing and calming yet still energetic spot.
At that same spot, we went on a small 30-minute walk around the area. It was drizzling, but that didn’t make it any less beautiful. When we got back, we had some more free time, and after that, we got to head down to eat dinner. We had things like fish, rice, salad and many more amazing foods. We ended our night with our Smithsonian Expert Dan Dixon, watching videos of his other expeditions, listening to his intriguing stories, and asking lots of questions.
